- We perform a comprehensive bariatric medical evaluation, and you will meet privately with both the physician and the nutritionist. We review your medical history, focusing particularly on medical issues and medications that may be related to your weight battle. Please bring a list of your current medications and doses. We will also review your weight history, and fully evaluate your unique circumstances, current eating pattern, lifestyle factors, food preferences and emotional and social factors affecting your weight.
- Vital signs are measured, including pulse, blood pressure, weight, BMI, and body fat percentage. If you have not had recent bloodwork, we require a bloodwork profile including a CBC, CMP, TSH, lipids. If you would like to have the labs done at our office, there is an additional charge of $75.00. Or you can arrange through your primary care physician.
- The physician will evaluate your medical history, weight history, and lifestyle factors, and perform a focused physical exam. A comprehensive plan will be created for the you, including specific, individualized guidance on diet, exercise, behavioral tactics, and advice on medical issues and medications related to obesity and co-morbid conditions. The physician will work closely with you to determine if you are a candidate for medication to assist in weight management.
- You will also receive extensive educational support materials, including a written lifestyle prescription, the Healthy Weight Center program book, the Calorie King calorie guide book, and you have the option of an online journal review by our nutritionist, at a mimimal charge. You are encouraged to call or email for extra support at any time.
This extensive evaluation generally takes two or more hours to complete.
